“GE Appliances has recalled some free-standing and slide-in electric and gas ranges so that they can be inspected and repaired if necessary.
According to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the ranges can tip over if a heavy object is placed on the oven door and the anti-tip bracket is not secured.
About 132,000 of the ranges were sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Best Buy and other home improvement and home appliance stores nationwide and online from May 2021 through July 2021 for between $580 and $4,600, depending on the model.
The recall involves 30-inch, 24-inch and 20-inch free-standing and slide-in ranges with these brand names – GE, GE Profile, Café, Haier, Hotpoint, Crosley and Conservator.”

If your GE range begins with an HS or LS and ends with a P there’s a chance it might be one of the affected. To their credit, GE is offering free in-home service to make the necessary repairs to applicable units. While these units may still be used in the meantime, GE advises consumers not to put any objects on the oven door. It’s probably a good idea to avoid that practice altogether to be honest.
