You are currently viewing This Christmas tradition includes a decorated water heater

“Nothing says Merry Christmas quite like an old water heater decorated with lights and ornaments and dropped on your front lawn in the middle of the night.

At least it’s a tradition that has helped celebrate the best time of the year in Kingston for the last 34 years.

And the rules clearly state the water heater must remain in place for the duration of the holiday season and it must be lit by 8 each night and remain lit through the night until early morning, preferably 8 a.m.”

While we wouldn’t suggest folks at home decorate their water heater (think of the hazards!), it is still an interesting sight to see none-the-less. What’s also impressive is that this tradition has been carried on for over 3 decades. Apparently, it goes all the way back to 1984, when the owner didn’t want to pay a removal fee!

At Apple Valley Eagan Appliance, we’re big on tradition too. The tradition of excellence that is! While we won’t decorate your appliances, we can offer fast and affordable service to make your holidays a little less stressful.
