You are currently viewing Potential fire hazard forces Haier to recall thousands of top-freezer refrigerators

“Haier has recalled about 137,000 top-freezer refrigerators because of a potential fire hazard. An electrical component inside the refrigerator has been found to short-circuit, which could lead to a fire.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has not reported any injuries, but it notes in the recall notice that there have been three reports of smoke, fire, and property damage related to the problem.

The refrigerators are 10.1-cubic-foot models and were sold at Lowe’s and independent retailers between September 2014 and September 2018. They were sold under three model numbers: HA10TG31SB, HA10TG31SS, and HA10TG31SS. To see whether your refrigerator is affected, you’ll need to pull it out and check the model number and serial number on the rating plate located on the rear panel of the refrigerator.”
